The Hebrew of the prophets
Not modern Israeli Hebrew. The vocabulary of the Hebrew Bible, its narrative וַיְהִי grammar, its construct chains, its idiom. Where the Book of Mormon quotes Isaiah or Malachi, the Hebrew is the Masoretic text of that verse.
Pointed like the Masoretic text
Full Tiberian vowels and dagesh on every word, so it can be read aloud and studied. Names are written the way the Church’s pronunciation guide says them: נֶפִי, אלמא, מורוני.

Is this an official translation?
No. It is an independent translation by Chris Lambe. It is not published by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and it does not speak for the Church.
Which Hebrew is it?
The Hebrew of the Bible. Its vocabulary is held to what the Hebrew Bible attests, its narrative runs on the biblical וַיְהִי forms, and every word carries the full Tiberian pointing of the Masoretic text. There are no cantillation marks.
Do I need to know Hebrew to read it?
No. In the reader every Hebrew word has its transliteration and its English beneath it, and any chapter can be read aloud in a Hebrew voice, phrase by phrase. Readers who know Hebrew can switch the other tiers off and read the text alone.
How are the names written?
In Hebrew letters, sounded the way the Church’s pronunciation guide gives them: Nephi נֶפִי, Alma אלמא, Mosiah מושיה, Helaman הילמן, Moroni מורוני. Names that already exist in the Bible keep their biblical spelling: Jacob יעקב, Enos אנוש.
What about the chapters that quote Isaiah?
Where the Book of Mormon quotes Isaiah, Malachi or Micah and the English follows the King James text, the Hebrew is the Masoretic text of that verse, word for word. Where the Book of Mormon’s wording departs from the Bible, the Hebrew departs with it.
